WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a daydream-like state of mind. It is an altered state of sleep. It is also called partial sleep. Hypn- means sleep, and -osis means abnormal condition, i.e. abnormal condition of sleep. It is not a Magic. It is a normal physiological phenomenon. We pass through hypnosis at least twice every day, while going to sleep and waking up from sleep, only thing is that we cannot hold ourselves in this state of mind under normal circumstances.
In India, yogis and rishis utilized self-hypnosis during meditation to still their minds. In India, the word hypnosis is referred to as sammohan. Sammohan has been practiced in India since the Vedic times, 1500-500 B.C. And also, in 2,000 B.C. Wond Tai, also known as the father of Chinese Medicine, wrote about a technique involving chanting and “the passing of hands” over the body.
This is a very old and highly effective art to tame our minds, to put positive suggestions to our subconscious mind, which in turn makes them happen for real in our daily life.

CAN A PERSON BE HYPNOTIZED AND MADE TO DO THINGS AGAINST HIS OR HER WILL?
This is absolutely False. Nobody can be hypnotized against his or her will. The person must be 100% cooperative otherwise hypnosis would not occur in the first place. Secondly, no one under hypnosis can be made to do anything they would not freely do if not under hypnosis.
During hypnosis, a person can choose to accept or reject any suggestions given. If a suggestion is given that upsets the person, he or she would likely come out of hypnosis immediately of their own choice.
It is the Defense Mechanism of our body that works 24 x 7 x 365 to Protect us from any harm whether in hypnosis, in deep meditation, in sleep, or awake. It is like, when we do have a deep sleep and the telephone rings, or somebody calls us, or the door bell rings, we immediately wake up.
